Primary school students learn about birds along Norman Creek

Written by

Students of Buranda State School have been learning a lot about birds in their Science classes, thanks to Birds Qld, Birdlife Southern Qld and one of our members!

55 year 2, 3 and 4 students did some preparation lessons looking at museum specimens and photographs of local birds, two bird walks, and a lesson with videos of bird behaviour.  They really increased their knowledge of birds and their behaviour, and some even got quite good at recognising bird calls.  It is wonderful to think that this is all possible in such an urbanised catchment as ours - a tribute to our volunteers' years of work and advocacy for the waterways and riparian areas.
