Bikeway near Bridgewater Creek

Written by

N4C has been negotiating with Council for some time about the proposed Carindale to CBD bikeway, which was originally going to cross Bridgewater Creek and destroy existing plantings near the off-leash dog area.

After strong opposition from the local community, N4C and the bushcare group, the Council announced the bikeway was to go around the project and cross the creek near the western end of the park.  N4C is grateful to the Council for their realignment of this bikeway, but there have been impacts from the bikeway construction despite the change in the plans.

In early November, a construction crew cleared an area of habitat plantings when they could easily have avoided them by crossing the creek a few metres upstream.  It is a great shame when trees, shrubs and groundcovers are cleared needlessly, after volunteers have worked so hard clearing weeds, obtaining the plants, planting them, watering them and weeding them.
